About

My first contact to guitar making was at the age of 15 when I decided to build my own first electric guitar. After building several instruments, I had the desire to become a luthier. I did apprenticeships at different workshops to get myself prepared for studying.

I started my education (Bachelor of Arts) in 2009 at the University of Applied Sciences in Markneukirchen, after two years of working in different shops.

The studies combined traditional craftmanship with modern scientific technologies, which enabled me to build high-quality instruments. The extensive scientific documentation of the build combined with a comparison of the data to the finished product gave me a deep understanding of the acoustic and physical relationship. The learned interrelations lead to new ideas in building guitars. I then specialized in building steel string and jazz guitars.

I finished my studies in 2013 as the best student of the year. Shortly after I became a Master of Crafts. I started working part time at the shop of Andreas Cuntz for several years, which gave me a lot of routine in making high class instruments. Since 2013 I am working in my own workshop in Mossautal. Here I am building handmade steel string and jazz guitars. I also do repairs on all stringed instruments.

In 2019, I received first prize at the “German Musical Instrument Award” for my steel string model MID-standard.
